U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.50%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the rose 0.50% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index added 0.62%, and the index added 1.02%.

The best performers of the session on the were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which rose 2.91% or 6.16 points to trade at 218.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) added 1.85% or 3.81 points to end at 209.54 and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) was up 1.73% or 0.54 points to 31.82 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dow Inc (NYSE:), which fell 2.02% or 1.09 points to trade at 52.78 at the close. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) declined 0.96% or 2.17 points to end at 223.10 and Nike Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.82% or 0.88 points to 106.21.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 6.86% to 14.02, Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.95% to settle at 439.03 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.58% to close at 234.86.

The worst performers were DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.50% to 7.43 in late trade, Pool Corporation (NASDAQ:) which lost 4.16% to settle at 324.64 and Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:) which was down 3.95% to 80.44 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Baosheng Media Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which rose 136.76% to 14.04, Oncology Institute Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 36.42% to settle at 0.65 and Rigetti Computing Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 33.33% to close at 1.38.

The worst performers were Wejo Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 31.92% to 0.04 in late trade, Precipio Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 29.41% to settle at 0.48 and Hashicorp Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 25.86% to 25.78 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1474 to 1458 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1841 fell and 1727 advanced, while 131 ended unchanged.

Shares in Wejo Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 31.92% or 0.02 to 0.04. Shares in Precipio Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 29.41% or 0.20 to 0.48.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 2.08% to 13.65 a new 3-years low.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.10% or 21.50 to $1,979.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.22% or 1.61 to hit $70.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 1.41 to trade at $75.54 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.08, while USD/JPY fell 0.88% to 138.90.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.73% at 103.30.
