Debt-ceiling deal would be a blow to poor people, advocates say

A deal to raise the U.S. debt ceiling reached by Republican and Democratic negotiators this past weekend could leave low-income people in the lurch thanks to expanded work requirements and potentially weaker rental assistance, advocates say.
