Bud Light Rebate Offers Almost Free Beer for July 4 Amid Boycott

Bud Light is offering deep rebates on products for July Fourth—making them almost free in some cases—as the brand tries to prop up sales after a boycott knocked it off its perch as America’s best-selling beer.

Owned by
Anheuser-Busch InBev
(ticker: BUD), Bud Light is offering a rebate of up to $15 on purchases of 15-packs or larger of Bud Light, Budweiser, Budweiser Select or Budweiser Select 55. Rules vary by state, but the rebate applies to purchases between June 15 and July 8.

In some cases, a 15-pack of Bud Light sells for less than $15. That could make the beer practically free when the rebate is applied.

Bud Light saw sales plummet after Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender social media personality, promoted the product on social media. Now it looks like the brewer is trying to lure customers back with a promotion that may be too hard to turn down.

It may take until data on weekly sales emerge to see if it’s worth fireworks.
