NTPC’s First-Quarter Net Profit Rose 24% on Lower Fuel Costs

NTPC’s first-quarter net profit rose 24% from a year earlier thanks to lower fuel costs.

The Indian thermal-power company said Saturday that net profit rose to 48.73 billion rupees ($592.1 million) for the quarter ended June 30 from INR39.37 billion a year earlier.

First-quarter revenue declined 0.2% from a year earlier to INR430.75 billion, while fuel costs fell 10% to INR240.45 billion.

Profit from power generation increased 9.5% to INR84.19 billion.
