Hollywood studios will keep right to train AI off writers’ work in tentative deal: WSJ

Hollywood studios and striking writers have tentatively reached an agreement that would let studios keep the right to train artificial-intelligence solutions based on what writers produce, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. Meanwhile, writers would get a guarantee of credit and compensation for their script work even if the studios also use AI tools for them. Members of the Writers Guild of America have been on strike for almost five months, but the guild said recently that it tentatively reached a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios.
