International stocks trading in New York closed higher Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts climbed 2% to 156.16. The European index advanced 1.9% to 150.29. The Asian index gained 2.2% to 181.67. The Latin American index edged up 0.6% to 205.65, while the emerging-markets index rose 2% to 303.41.

RedHill Biopharma was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
