India’s trade deficit in goods narrowed on year in April, with both imports and exports falling, suggesting weakening demand both domestically and globally for Indian goods.

The trade deficit–the difference between exports and imports of goods–came in at $15.24 billion in April compared with a $18.36 billion deficit for the same month of 2022, government data showed Monday.

Exports fell 12.7% on year to $34.66 billion, while imports dropped 14.1% to $49.90 billion, the data showed.
